Elaborately woven beeralu lace may be hard to come by these days, but this product of an age-old craft was once popular, and much valued, across the island.it is considered that the Malays who arrived here from Indonesian islands and the Malay region, were the first to introduce the craft to the island. The southern coastal area in Sri Lanka was famous for its beautifully crafted beeralu lace.
