Description
Water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) have been an integral part of Sri Lankan agriculture for thousands of years. Primarily utilized in rural lowland communities, these powerful beasts of burden are used to prepare the muddy terrain of paddy (rice) fields prior to sowing, and to thresh harvested grains.
